Copy of email to Parents re. Covid-19 update and cancellation of Parents Evenings PLEASE READ

Dear Parent/Carer

The new advice from Friday 13th is that anyone with symptoms that suggest coronavirus should self-isolate for 7 days. This means anyone with a new continuous cough or a temperature of 37.8 or higher must stay at home for 7 days.

For this reason please do not send your child to school if they have a new cough or temperature of 37.8 or above as this could affect children and colleagues. As of today, we are cancelling all staff going on training courses and all but essential visitors coming to school. These include external tutors coming to school to teach guitar, singing, drums etc. and our volunteer readers, The Kitchen Club and Open the Book members. Please contact these external providers directly if it affects your child.

We have also postponed the Sports for Champion visitor this Friday. Please be assured that all sponsor money received will be held in the safe until it is rearranged, hopefully in Term 6.

School will be opening at 8.45am. A member of staff will open the gate and a member of staff will assist any children into school. All children will be asked to wash their hands once in school and we will provide sanitizer at the beginning of the day and then follow the procedures for washing during the day. We are asking that parents stay outside of the school grounds at the beginning and end of each day. The corridors often become a busy area and we need to avoid this contact.

Sports clubs will continue but there will be no wake and shake.

If your child develops a cough or temperature whilst they are here,  you will be contacted and asked to collect them immediately.

I understand that the above may cause you inconvenience, but we are following government guidelines, please see the link below. Please can you ensure that the contact details we have for you are up to date.

Parents Evenings are to be postponed. We would hope to have them during Term 6, but as I am sure you will appreciate, it is an ever changing situation. We will be issuing a means of communication with your child’s class teacher so that we can still keep you informed of your child’s progress within school. This will be sent out over the coming days.

In preparation for if/when schools are ordered to close the teachers are putting together a home learning pack, which will include online learning – MyMaths and Bug Club.

If you have any questions, please forward these to admin@kempsford.gloucs.sch.uk and we will work hard to ensure a response is given within 48hrs.

Thank you in advance for your understanding.

Mr Richard Mendum

Head Teacher
