Admissions

Come and Visit

Parents moving into our catchment area and wishing to send their child to the school are warmly invited to contact the school to arrange a visit. Please see our Contact Details page to get in touch.

Parents of Reception age children are invited to visit the school during the Spring Term of the year preceding their child’s admission and an Open Evening is held in July, where staff from the school will provide information on the Foundation Stage curriculum and the arrangements for admission.

Admissions Arrangements – Reception

Gloucestershire Education Authority is responsible for the admissions of children to schools.

Latest details from GCC can be found here: https://www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/schooladmissions/

Our Published Admissions Number (PAN) is 15 in each year group.

In the event of oversubscription priority will be given to children wishing to join older brothers/sisters already attending the school; and then to children with authenticated medical reasons for attending.  Any remaining places will be filled by children having the strongest geographical claim.

Every child has the opportunity to start school in the September following their fourth birthday, even if their 4th birthday August 31st.

Admissions Arrangements – All other year-groups and times

You can apply for a place for your child at any time outside the normal admissions round. As is the case in the normal admissions round, all children whose statement of SEN or EHC plan names the school will be admitted.
Likewise, if there are spaces available in the year group you are applying for, your child will always be offered a place.
If there are no spaces available at the time of your application, your child’s name will be added to a waiting list for the relevant year group. When a space becomes available it will be filled by one of the pupils on the waiting list in accordance with the oversubscription criteria listed in section 6.3 of this policy. Priority will not be given to children on the basis that they have been on the waiting list the longest.
Applications for in-year admissions should be sent to Kempsford Primary School, GL7 4EY

Appeals

If your child’s application for a place at the school is unsuccessful, you will be informed why admission was refused and given information about the process for hearing appeals. If you wish to appeal, you must set out the grounds for your appeal in writing and send it to the address stated on the appeals application. A letter form school will be sent which outlines the process to follow.
