The month of March is upon us and therefore our whole school focus on reading will soon be here. We wanted to let you know further details about what we are planning to do to raise the profile of reading at school and at home for pleasure.
Friends of the School (FOS) will be kindly paying for 2 author visits. For Key Stage 2 (Beetle and Spider Classes) Mr Christopher Edge will be visiting on Friday 7th March. We have attached an order form to this letter if you wish to order one of his books; he is also going to be at Octavia’s Bookshop, Cirencester to a give mystery writing master class and sign copies of his new book, The Black Crow Conspiracy, on Saturday March 1st from 11:00am – 3:00pm. For Key Stage 1 (Ant and Ladybird Classes) Mrs Tracey Corderoy will be visiting on Monday 24th March. If you would like to buy one of her amazing books before hand, she is very willing to sign it for you.
On Friday 14th March, we will be holding a Scholastic Book Fair and FOS will be serving coffee and cakes too. With so many brilliant books to explore, it’s the perfect way to get to grips with the latest bestsellers. There will be over 200 titles for you to browse through, and with fantasy, thrillers, non-fiction, comedy and lots more starting from only £2.99, there’s sure to be a book for everyone to enjoy. Don’t forget that every book you buy can help to get FREE BOOKS for our school! If you can’t make it to the Book Fair, visit www.bookfairs.scholastic.co.uk/parents to find out about Book Fair Gift Vouchers. The child/ren will be given their ‘World Book Day’ voucher as they enter so they can use it against a purchase if they want to.
To celebrate the arrival of the book fair we will be holding the following competitions for each class, and for the whole school:-

- Ladybird Class: The design and drawing of a treasure map
- Beetle & Spider Classes: A book review on a favourite book
