Library Books

As from next week all the children will be invited to select a school library book to take home to read and enjoy.  Each class will have a day to change their library book during their lunch time and choose another one to share with their family at home.  I am pleased to inform you that we have new junior librarians to help us in the running of this whole school reading scheme.  The junior librarians will help the children to change their books and will be in charge of record keeping on their specific days. They are also going to help run a competition each term, to promote reading and writing.

Our junior librarians are:

  • Charlie S and Rachel – Class 2 – Mondays
  • Anna and Caitlin – Class 3 – Tuesdays
  • Michael and Alasdair – Class 4 – Thursdays
  • Harvey and Daniel S – Class 1 – Fridays

Please refer to the information in the library window to help your child/children remember when they need to change their library books and who their junior librarian is.
Each child in Key Stage 1 will be issued with a reading record which will record the books they will be taking home to share. When changing their books they will need to bring this with them to help keep a record of the books they have chosen.

In Key Stage 2 the children will be issued with a library card which they will need to bring with them on their allocated day in order to change their book.

We will also be running a book review competition to find out what different books the children have read and what they thought of them. This will run until the end of term and the book review competition sheets are available from the library. Your child/children may also want to create their own book review for this competition. The winner of the book review competition will be announced on Friday 13th December when they will be presented with a book prize.

Thank you and happy reading!! If you have any questions with regards to the Library then please speak to Miss Heavisides or the Junior librarians.

Yours sincerely, Mrs Pam Smart
